I am recruiting qualified candidates for a Rangeland Research Support Technician position.  This is a soft-money, APT (administrative, professional, technical) appointment within the University of Hawaii-Manoa with a starting salary of $49,224. The successful candidate will provide technical support for Rangeland and Livestock Management research and extension programing.  Current projects include evaluating the ecology and biology of a new invasive pest, Twolined Spittlebug, on Hawaii’s rangelands, research and development of grazing management strategies and decision support tools for sustainable grass-finish beef production, investigating the potential for seaweed supplementation to reduce methane production in range cattle, mineral supplementation in beef cattle and small ruminants, research on the anthelmintic properties of sheep and goat diets, and post-fire remediation of Hawaii rangelands.  The position also provides technical support for extension outreach through website development and maintenance, social media campaigns, workshop presentations and extension bulletins and other media.
