Program Manager

This position manages the application, awarding, and reporting of the Farmer/Rancher grant program and assists with other competitive grant programs administered by Western SARE.

The Program Manager works closely with the Fiscal Manager, other grant program managers, the Deputy Regional Coordinator, and the Regional Coordinator to: manage Calls for Proposals, guide the proposal submission process through interaction with applicants and the National SARE office, review submissions for completeness, organize technical review panels, facilitate review panels, summarize reviewers’ comments for all applicants, report recommendations to the Western SARE Administrative Council, facilitate subawards’ initiation, and manage the mini-grant non-competitive program for Farmer/Rancher awardees. Part of the award summarization process includes the development of GIS-based maps to illustrate demographic data associated with Western SARE annual funding and activities.

The Program Manager is also responsible for monitoring the progress and reporting efforts of awarded proposals, including conducting project site visits.

These responsibilities require an agricultural background combined with strong qualitative, quantitative, organizational, and communication skills.

Screening of applications will begin on April 7, 2023; however, applications will continue to be accepted until an adequate applicant pool has been established.
