Position Summary
The Lucero lab at Texas A&M University seeks to hire a post-doctoral scholar to join a multi-institutional, international team to conduct original research on the ecology and management of invasive plant species. This 2-year position is funded through a USDA-AFRI grant awarded to study the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on the assembly of communities invaded by Bromus tectorum(cheatgrass) in the native (Europe) and non-native (USA) ranges. In addition to the focal project and dependent upon research interests, room for scientific exploration across multiple avenues of plant, soil, rangeland, and restoration ecology is possible and highly encouraged.
The position will be based out of the main campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, USA, though working remotely may be possible. This position offers benefits and a competitive salary commensurate with experience and available funds.
Qualifications
Required
· PhD in ecology, range science, environmental science, biology, or a similar natural resource-related field at the start of the position.
· Strong record of leading high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.
· Strong analytical and statistical skills for addressing complex ecological datasets.
· Sound communication skills.
· Self-motivation to work independently.
· Willingness/ability to travel to and work at domestic (USA) field sites.
· Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
· Willingness to collaborate within and outside of the core research group.
· Interest in working with the PI to apply for extramural research funding.
· Previous field research experience in dryland ecology.
· Enthusiasm for working outside in arid and semi-arid western US climates.
Application
To apply, prepare the following materials: 1) a one-page cover letter summarizing qualifications and outlining research interests; 2) a comprehensive curriculum vitae including a full publication list; 3) unofficial graduate and undergraduate transcripts; 4) contact information for three references. Submit applications to: https://tamus.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/AgriLife_Research_External/job/College-Station-AL-RSCH/Postdoctoral-Research-Associate_R-054430
Review of applications will begin October 17, 2022 and will continue until a suitable candidate is identified. Preferred start is January 1, 2023.
