Subject: [EXT]Introducing the Global Vegetation Project
Dear colleague,
Greetings from snowy Wyoming, I hope you are keeping well. I am writing to introduce you to the Global Vegetation Project<http://gveg.wyobiodiversity.org/> - an education initiative that provides an online global map of open-access vegetation photos. Our mission is to inspire and empower people of all ages to learn about the diversity of vegetation on our planet and to provide educators with a resource for teaching online. Thanks to contributions from people like you, the map includes > 1000 photos from every biome and continent, and we create climate diagrams for each location. You can visit the RShiny global map<https://pathfinder.arcc.uwyo.edu:3838/connect/#/apps/4/access> to check it out (it is optimized for desktop viewing).
If you find this resource useful and a good idea for vegetation ecology, please consider contributing vegetation photos<http://gveg.wyobiodiversity.org/index.php/entry-submission> of the vegetation that you live in, work in, or play in, through our data entry portal. Our goal is to provide free access to photos from every global ecoregion, but only 25% of ecoregions are represented on the map. This project can only succeed if vegetation scientists from around the world work collaboratively to make it happen. If you provide DOI links to papers for photos that represent your field research sites, we can promote your scientific research.
I have attached two published articles that describe the project in more detail if you would like more information, and you can follow us on social media @GlobalVegProj. Please tell your students, friends, and family about us too!
Best wishes,
