Hi Everyone,
With this url link, we are sharing a StoryMap called “What does resilience mean to western ranchers?”
https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/b08b39a1ca134e658d98915afe91b13f
You may find it useful for sharing with colleagues in rangeland management, ranching, and rural economics and development. It can be used to support conversations about rangelands, their use, and how ranchers define resilience in the face of changes in ecological conditions, economics, ranching communities, and users and uses of rangelands.
In short, the StoryMap has these qualities:
* This Story Map shares findings from focus groups with 52 livestock producers across 7 locations in the U.S. West.
* This Story Map communicates the challenges of ranching and rancher responses to changing environmental and social conditions in their own words.
* Ranchers identified changes that fall into four thematic categories: ecological conditions, economic conditions, ranching communities, and rangeland users and uses.
* Ranchers discussed the greatest number of adaptation strategies to address ecological changes, but fewer options were available to address changes to the economy, ranching communities, and rangeland land use.
* Use this Story Map to learn more about rangeland management, perspectives of ranchers in different western contexts, and the interconnectedness of social-ecological challenges and adaptation options.
Cheers,
Mitch
