Hi Tierra Seca members,

This Saturday there will be the RISE Symposium here on campus (Marley
Building). Each year Tierra Seca helps by providing a breakfast table for
attendees. Currently, Eamonn, Cameron, Robin and Austin have said they
could help, but more volunteers would be more than welcome. Bonus; anyone
that helps with the breakfast gets to attend the symposium if you
are interested.

Email me if you are interested in helping with the breakfast (
alexbinfordwalsh at email.arizona.edu). It would involve helping set up at
7:45am and managing the table until 9am (when the symposium starts).

Below is information about the symposium, and I'm also attaching the
symposium program schedule.

Regards,

Alex

*17th annual Research Insights in Semiarid Ecosystems
(RISE) SymposiumSaturday, 20 November 2021, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PMUniversity of
Arizona Marley Building Auditorium (Room 230), Tucson, Arizona *

*The 17th annual Research Insights in Semiarid Ecosystems
(RISE) Symposium will be held Saturday, 20 November 2021, 8:30 AM to 3:00
PM on the University of Arizona campus. The objectives of
the symposium are to share recent results of research at the USDA-ARS
Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed (WGEW) and the University of Arizona
Santa Rita Experimental Range (SRER), to encourage future research
activities at the WGEW and the SRER, and to promote the WGEW and the SRER
as outdoor scientific laboratories. *

*The Symposium will feature invited speakers presenting recent or on-going
research on the WGEW, the SRER or other outdoor laboratories in the
region. There is also a Student Poster competition with monetary awards. *

*Conditions resulting from the Covid-19 Pandemic could require a Remote
meeting format (via Zoom) or cancellation as in 2020.** We are preparing
for that possibility and will provide updates as we approach November
2021. Given this possibility, we ask that you register on-line to ensure
that we can communicate the status of the meeting with you via email, and
send you the Zoom links to attend Remotely. If held Remotely, we will not
charge the Registration fee. *

*Please use the web site http://www.tucson.ars.ag.gov/rise/
<http://www.tucson.ars.ag.gov/rise/> to view the RISE program, to register
for the symposium, to submit poster abstracts and to enter the student
poster contest, view talks and posters from past years, and see updates
related to the possible changes due to Covid Pandemic. *
