RESTORATION FIELD TECHNICIAN
Borderlands Restoration Network (BRN) is seeking a full-time Restoration Field Technician to join our Watershed Restoration Program team with a potential target start date of May 3rd. BRN employs a multi-pronged approach to restoration that strives to strengthen ecosystems from the ground up, restoring uplands, supporting native vegetation, and enhancing habitat. The position will be involved in all aspects of restoration practices including native seed collection, plant propagation and establishment, installing erosion controls structures, removing invasive plants, and working across program areas within our organization.
The position is based out of Patagonia, Arizona. Training will be provided, but we seek a motivated and quick learner who is able to work well with others and has a passion for plants and ecological restoration.
Required Qualifications:
• Ability to conduct intense, physical work in potentially extreme weather conditions while carrying up to 50 lbs
• High standards of safety in the field and with hand tools
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail
• Experience operating basic tools for planting and transplanting vegetation, trenching, and hauling rocks
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge and familiarity with techniques used to perform habitat restoration
• Familiarity with plants of the Southwestern US
• Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or Red Card
• English and Spanish proficiency
• Current Driver License
Hours, Duration, and Pay:
This is a full-time (40 hour/week) permanent position starting at $15/hour with a competitive benefit package.
Challenges Inherent to Position:
This is a highly demanding, outdoor physical job that requires a tolerance for weather conditions, and enthusiasm for working both independently and on a team.
