Dear Friends and Colleagues,



The Conservancy is hiring a new Wildlife Ecologist and I hope you can help us find a dynamite applicant to carry forward our wildlife research program. The position involves applied and hands-on wildlife research and conservation, on the Santa Lucia Preserve located in the exquisite central coast of California.



After over 7 years of splashing around in ponds, trapping birds, conducting habitat restoration and responding to wildfires (plus lots of other fun projects and outreach), on one of the most spectacular landscapes I have even seen, I have decided to take on a new challenge and will be moving back to Colorado this winter. My plan is to take much of what I have learned in this job, particularly from our Conservation Grazing Program, and apply it to some ranch lands I own in Southern Colorado. I am super excited for this new adventure but it is also bitter sweet to be leaving the Conservancy Team and the natural wonders of the Preserve. My hope is we can get this position filled soon so I have time to overlap with the new staff member, before I leave in November, and I can help get them onboard and ready to jump into the 2021 field season.
