Humboldt State University Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources is hiring two new tenure-track faculty members starting in Fall 2022. Additionally, as part of HSU's transition to becoming a California State Polytechnic, a number of new tenure track faculty positions in other departments could be a good fit for many fire researchers/educators. Position 1: Forestry and Wildland Resources (Applied Fire Science and Management)- We are looking for a candidate with a teaching and research background in prescribed fire/cultural fire science and application, fire behavior modeling, or fire policy. Position 2: Forestry and Wildland Resources (Rangeland Resource Science)- We are looking for a candidate with a teaching and research background in rangeland resource science, fire, and/or soils courses. Application review begins February 14th, 2022. Contact: Susan Marshall-sem11 at humboldt.edu

Position 3: Environmental Science & Management (Geographic Information Science)- We are looking for a candidate with teaching and research applying geospatial data and methods to natural resource and management issues. This could include but is not limited to: ecological restoration, environmental planning & policy, environmental justice, environmental education, habitat/species distribution modeling, coastal and marine planning & management, natural disasters and risk management, sea-level rise, wildland fire, renewable energy. Position 4: Mathematics (Data Science)- We are seeking candidates with a background in mathematics, statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence or a related discipline who have a demonstrated interest or ability in cross-disciplinary collaboration, particularly in societal grand challenge areas such as fire resilience, climate action, access to justice, and clean energy.
