GrizzlyCorps, an AmeriCorps program designed by Project Climate at UC Berkeley’s Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment, is currently hiring for a few specific project partner placements. Each year GrizzlyCorps sends recent college graduates to rural communities across California to promote regenerative agri-food systems and fire and forest resilience. GrizzlyCorps seeks to increase capacity for organizations working on community resilience and climate action while bolstering the next generation of professionals at the forefront of climate change solutions. Over eleven months, fellows gain direct experience supporting climate action implementation and planning while receiving ongoing professional development opportunities.

GrizzlyCorps is currently recruiting for Yolo County Resource Conservation District: Conservation Outreach Coordinator/Restoration Assistance

The Conservation Outreach Coordinator would work with Yolo County Resource Conservation District staff to improve our outreach into the community. This work would be diverse and include tasks such as:

•     Writing press releases for local newspapers

•     Improving communication of conservation workshops and events

•     Populating new website with locally relevant information on climate-beneficial conservation

•     Mentoring for high school students learning about on-farm climate beneficial practices such as planting native hedgerows and riparian buffers that sequester carbon

  *   Hands on restoration work on a variety of project sites doing weed control, planting, irrigating and helping native plants establish.

•     Working with Yolo County government to incorporate reporting of climate beneficial agricultural practices into meeting their Climate Action Plan goals

•     Assisting staff with public education workshops covering a variety of conservation issues including wildfire management.
