Hi Rebecca,

Many, probably most, of our range students chose to apply theirelectives towards career paths that qualify them for GS-454 RangelandManagement Specialist positions with the federal government.  However, our range students also are given the flexibility to usesome of their elective units to develop skills and knowledge geared towards othernatural resource disciplines such as soils, wildlife ecology and management, geographic information systems and remote sensing.

If you send your announcements to me, I will make sure they reach our current students as well as our recent graduates and alums who have jobs but may be looking.  In fact, your preliminary announcement is being c-copied to our current students, recent graduates, and alums in this email.

I am also c-copying Katie Hughes and Shannon Scott (SNRE academic advisors) as additional points of contact for connecting our students with NR jobs.  They can provide more accurate answers on the specifics of SNRE graduates in Dec and May.

Feel free to call or email me if you need more information.  I'll look forward to receiving and forwarding all jobs to our students that you send my way.

All the best,

Larry HoweryChair, UA Range Program (aka Ecology Management and Restoration of Rangelands, EMRR Program)

Good Morning Larry ~

Hope you are doing well.  I’m working with Arizona USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and need to get information out to your graduating seniors on upcoming entry level Rangeland Management Specialist positions we will be advertising in the next couple of weeks.  Can you be a good resource to get information to them?  Also, who else should I reach out to at University of Arizona?

In addition, I would like to know what is your depth of the School of Natural Resources and the Environment undergraduate program?  How many students, on average, graduate in the DEC?  Or in the MAY?  I would like to develop some good dependable POCs in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment undergraduate program so we can have a seamless channel to consider your graduating Seniors.  Do you also support recently graduated students in your career services?  How would I reach out to your alumni to share our career opportunities?

Thank you, kindly, Larry!

Best Regards,

~ Rebecca M. de la Torre

As precautionary health measures are put in effect nationwide to reduce the spread of coronavirus, the USDA is taking steps to ensure the safety of its employees and customers. USDA Service Centers are open for business by phone appointment only. While our program delivery staff will continue to come into to the office, they will be working with our agriculture producers by phone and using email and online tools whenever possible. Producers should contact their local service center by phone to schedule time for program or loan services needed. For the latest information on Service Center operations, visitwww.farmers.gov/coronavirus.
