I was wondering if you could forward this to any students interested concerning a research assistant during this winter and possible conversion to paid internship at the park in the spring/summer/fall (to start ASAP).



The position would be assisting myself (Ryan Summers) with a survey of post-cattle grazing plots to determine recovery and succession in the foothills of Saguaro National Park East.  This would be 1-2 days a week, eight hours a day (whenever interested students would have time).  It’s a great opportunity to learn common methodology in vegetation surveys and more specifically for plant ID.  If interest were mutual towards April and May said student would be eligible for conversion to one of a few different park internships through the summer.  Ability to hike 3-6 miles up steep slopes and through off-trail, thornscrub ecosystems would be required.
