Attached and below is for Assistant Professor in the UGA Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources focused on Outreach/Extension Silviculture to be located in Tifton, Georgia.  
 
  
 
POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a fiscal year (12-month, 1.0 EFT) tenure-track, 75% outreach and 25% research appointment offered at the rank of Assistant Professor and is stationed at the University of Georgia Campus in Tifton, GA. Individuals with expertise in the broad area of silvicultural issues relevant to southern ecosystems are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities will include the development of externally funded applied research and outreach/extension programs that produce relevant, refereed literature and science-based information. The focus area will be in vegetation management, including native and invasive plants, use of prescribed burning, establishment and management of southern pine stands or related topics to the state and region. The successful candidate is expected to establish a regionally/nationally recognized program in applied silviculture. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain external funding, publish research findings in the peer-reviewed scientific literature and widely disseminated extension literature, direct/mentor graduate students, collaborate with faculty and stakeholders, serve on School/University committees, and actively participate in professional /scientific societies.
 
  
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree, with at least one degree in forestry, natural resources, or a related field. Applications from individuals with at least one year of experience in developing and implementing education and extension programming are preferred. The successful candidate will provide compelling evidence of, or potential for, extension productivity and should have expertise in outreach or extension education, conducting and reporting applied research, successfully mentoring students, and non-traditional or on-line instruction. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability and willingness to work closely with Warnell School outreach and research faculty, State and Federal public land management partners, Cooperative Extension Agents, private forest landowners, forestry consultants, natural resource managers and other constituent groups.
 
  
 
THE STATE & UNIVERSITY: Georgia is well-known for its quality of life, both in terms of outdoor and urban activities (www.georgia.gov). The state has the most commercial forestland and the largest forest-based economy in the United States. The University of Georgia (www.uga.edu) is a land/sea/space grant institution comprised of 17 schools and colleges. Enrollment is nearly 38,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Warnell School is a professional school with 64 faculty, 100 support staff, 350 undergraduates, and 195 graduate students (www.warnell.uga.edu). The School offers Bachelor of Science, Master of Forest Resources, Master of Natural Resources, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the areas of Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife, Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management, and Natural Resource Management & Sustainability. The school has 23,000 acres of forestland across the state for teaching, outreach and research. The Tifton Campus (www.tifton.uga.edu) is a large and dynamic multidisciplinary, multi-agency facility in South Georgia, with strong research, extension, and teaching activities. The campus is home to nearly 100 scientists representing seven UGA departments and several USDA-ARS units. Tifton and Tift County has a population of over 40,000 and is an area leader in education, health care, industry, agriculture, recreation, and the arts (www.tiftonchamber.org).

Hillsborough County is currently recruiting for Senior Environmental Lands Management Technicians.  The position is supervisory, predominately field-based, and supports environmental lands management across approximately 40,000 acres of Hillsborough County’s  64,000 acre environmental lands program (ELAPP).
