Hi Everyone,

here is a glowing endorsement for pursuing one of the internships with Great Basin Institute.

Beth, the author of the email, is a former Range Student at UA so she has some idea what you are facing as students.

Please give this your full consideration.

Cheers,

Mitch

Hi Mitch,

Just thought I'd put my two cents in about GBI for prospective interns. I hope U of A students and alumni apply for positions because in my short couple of years in Nevada, GBI has been so valuable as a partner with the BLM. They have provided a lot of motivated, intelligent interns to my office and others around Nevada and beyond and I can't speak for other BLM districts, but boy, do we need our GBIs in the Battle Mountain District. We have them working in rangeland monitoring, wild horse and burro monitoring, riparian monitoring, recreation, and cultural and archaeological resources. Applicants will need to be motivated and on their game because all of the GBIs I've worked with have been hardworking and really on the ball. My first summer here, we had two gals with different backgrounds (one was fisheries) but were so good that they were crucial teammates to have when we conducted a big monitoring blitz that included verifying ecological sites and evaluating the 17 Indicators.

I hope all is good with you and the SNRE. Since the year started, I have officially been the wild horse and burro specialist for the Tonopah Field Office, so I've essentially achieved a goal I kept in mind starting when I first met John Hall at my first SRM meeting in 2010. It makes for a busy life but it'll be exciting.

I should run along for now but take care and here's hoping some good U of A folks turn up as research associates with GBI. Take care for now!

Hello,

It is that time of year when we are hiring for our 2016 field season! We have dozens of positions in 8 states. We would very much appreciate it if you would pass around this flyer to anyone who may be interested in our positions. We are looking for students, alumni and other folks who may have a background in the field of natural resources management. Thank you so much for your assistance and you may direct questions to me.
