Hey gang!

Just wanted to forward this along again and see if you could distribute to
the Tierra Seca list serve.

The Rangelands Partnership would greatly appreciate any time and support
you and any other interested Tierra Seca students could give in helping out
with the editing and creating of new rangelands related content on
Wikipedia.  This would be an excellent opportunity to learn (or improve)
new Wiki skills as well as broaden rangelands information (which is almost
non-existent on Wiki now).  Our aim is to input a lot of new
rangeland-related content, including Global Rangelands, Arizona Rangelands,
and the Santa Rita Experimental Range.

This editing event will be held Friday, March 11th from 11am-5pm (USB
building room 310) and does not require all day attendance, folks can drop
in and out as they are able.  Lunch is provided and hopefully folks can
provide an hour or two’s work.  The Partnership is also working on offering
monetary awards for the first persons to successfully create new rangeland
content on Wikipedia!  It would also be great if we could start a small
project that would keep going after this event in which Tierra Seca members
could participate.

You are invited to participate in the UA Agriculture & Natural Resources
Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Friday, March 11.

In an exciting online collaboration, we will be joining faculty and
students at our fellow land grant university partner, Cornell University.
The aim of this multi-institution event is to cultivate an
interdisciplinary, collaborative effort that adds new (or strengthens
existing) Wikipedia article pages related to agriculture and natural
resources.

All participants will be trained in the basics of editing in Wikipedia and
we’ll show you how to add value to your page by linking out to relevant
publications or data sets, etc.

Lunch will be provided and the event will culminate with lightening round
