Hello URME Team and other Undergraduates,
The 66th annual Society for Range Management meeting provides many
opportunities for undergraduate students to test and display their
knowledge in different rangeland ecology and management principles. This
upcoming year the meeting will take place in February (2013) in Oklahoma
City, OK. In addition to participating in the Undergraduate Range
Management Exam (URME), a handful of undergraduate students are interested
in competing in the Plant Identification Contest held at the upcoming SRM
meeting.
The Plant ID contest is challenging and will require some time to study the
set list of plants that will be chosen from for the competition. Students
will compete individually and their individual score will contribute to
their overall university team score. Students on the team will hold study
sessions until the day of the contest to help each other learn to sight
identify plants.
*We will have a meeting for students who are interested in being part of
the UA Plant ID Team:*
*Thursday September 13, 2012*
*1:00pm*
*BSE 124 (given that this room is available at that time - we can be
flexible if it is not)*
*
*
At this meeting, we will discuss the best day/time to hold our study
sessions, where to find information/examples of the plants you will need to
know, and other preparation logistics.
If you can't make the meeting tomorrow at 1:00 and are interested in being
a part of the team, please let myself or Eric Wagner (undergraduate -
ewagner at email.arizona.edu) know and we will fill you in on the details and
decisions made.
Hope to see you there,
Kelsey Hawkes
