Hi Kelsey,
Could you send this to the tierra seca listserv and make an announcement
next week during the meeting?
Here is the e-mail I got from Travis Bean:
I need Range Club members in helping me out with some fieldwork this fall
and possibly next spring. I currently have several field ongoing field
projects and would like to hire some undergraduate student workers to
assist. All projects are field-based, with one project requiring a small
amount of lab time to process tiller moisture samples.
My projects are all buffelgrass-related, though fairly diverse in scope,
and include studies on herbicide efficacy, leaf pathogen occurrence and
severity, and modeling greenup and senescence using trail cameras. Pay is
$9/hr, with a range of 1-3 (partial, 4-8 hrs each day) days per week. Once
trained in the monitoring procedure, the student(s) will be able to do the
sampling whenever works best for them, though sampling does need to occur
when plants are green and actively growing, so this is somewhat weather
dependent. They'll need their own transportation and of course, the
majority of the work will be done outside on rough slopes, and you'll need
to be able to carry some gear with you (<40 lbs). Let me know if anyone
from the Range Club is interested.
Thanks, Travis
