Hello Tierra Seca and Undergrads,
We've spoken about this in our meetings a couple of times, but I'd like to
encourage you again to attend the Undergraduate student lunch (free pizza!)
with Dr. L. David Mech (University of Minnesota), who is being hosted by
the Natural Resources Graduate Student Organization as an invited speaker.
Dr. Mech is well known for his 50 years of research with wolves, and he
will be giving a public seminar talk as well that will be interesting to
hear about. Please see the information below for the time and location

*SPECIAL EVENT: Annual Natural Resources Graduate Student Organization
Invited SpeakerSeminar: Dr. L. David Mech (University of Minnesota, USGS) –
April 2-3, 2012*
The Natural Resources Graduate Student Organization will be hosting Dr. L.
David Mech on April 2-3. Dr. Mech will present a public seminar on* Monday,
April 2 *at* **4 pm *(CHEM 134)* *with a *reception *to follow* **from
5-6:00 pm *(courtyard on the north side of BSE), as well as meet with
students and faculty in *individual & group meetings* and* student
lunch/brunches**. *Please see the complete schedule and link below to sign

*About Dr. Mech:*
L. David Mech is a senior scientist with the Biological Resources Division,
U.S. Geological Survey and an adjunct professor in the Department of
Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology, and Ecology, Evolution and
Behavior at the University of Minnesota. He has studied large carnivores,
especially wolves, and their prey since 1958. Dr. Mech's other interests
include wildlife photography, preservation of wild lands, human ecology,
evolutionary biology, and social justice. Please also visit his website:

*One-on-one meetings*:
We are providing opportunities for one-on-one or small group/lab meetings
with Dr. Mech on Monday and Tuesday, April 2-3. If you are interested in
meeting with him, please follow the link below and fill in the times that
you are *able* to meet. If necessary, we may combine individuals into
small groups.
We will make every effort to accommodate as many people as possible, but
preference will be given to SNRE faculty and grad students. We will send
out a final schedule to the email address you provide in the doodle poll.
