Subject: request to disseminate information re: ESA student travel awards

I wanted to ask if you would be willing to distribute this information to the SRER list serve and the SNRE list serve to notify students of the opportunities for financial assistance to attend the ESA meeting in Portland this summer. I’ve included text below and sent a pdf attachment.
The Southwest Chapter has two to three travel awards ($300 to $500 each) available for students to support travel to the Annual ESA Meeting. Students wishing to apply for an award should forward a copy of application materials to Dawn Browning, Chair of the Southwest Chapter by May 31, 2012. Successful applicants will be notified of their award by July 1, 2012. Awardees are required to attend the Southwest Chapter business meeting at the Annual Meeting in Portland.
Applications will be judged by Southwest Chapter elected officers. Criteria for the awards will be overall quality of the abstract, progress of the student towards their degree, and the degree to which the abstract and research reflect ecological issues relevant to the American Southwest.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be the presenting author of a paper or poster that has been accepted for presentation at the 2012 Annual ESA meeting. Applicants must be enrolled as graduate or undergraduate students at the time of their application. The student must be a member of the Southwestern Chapter at the time of their application. To join ESA and this chapter, visit eservices.esa.org. Students, co-authors, employees, and relatives of current section officers are ineligible for this award.
Application materials (due May 31, 2012 via email) include:

(1)    A copy of the abstract accepted by ESA for presentation at the annual meeting, including the paper/poster number and date/session/time of presentation;

(2)    A cover letter from the student describing the nature, importance, and relevance of the research to be presented and the student’s interest in attending the ESA meeting;

(3) A letter of recommendation from the student's advisor; and

(4) A second letter of recommendation from another faculty member or member of the student's dissertation or thesis committee.
Complete applications should be sent to Dawn Browning, Southwest Chapter Chair, dbrownin at nmsu.edu<mailto:dbrowninr at nmsu.edu>, with the subject line “2012 ESA Southwest Chapter Student Travel award.”
