Ecology & Natural History of the Sonoran Desert & Upper Gulf of California
Summer PRESESSION 2012 = 3 weeks: 14 May – 02 June 2012

Hands-on learning & field research projects with faculty/scientists

2012 Course Schedule:
Biosphere 2:
    Learn ecosystem research at B2. Survey desert & foothill habitats. Meet experts & their study species.
Santa Catalina Mountains:
    Camp at 8,000’ to explore elevational zonation & sky island biomes of Sonoran region.
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum:
    Visit world-renowned education & research facility in the heart of the Sonoran Desert.
UA Campus:
    Base of operations while exploring ASDM, Saguaro National Park, Tumamoc Hill, & other Tucson locales.
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument:
    Camp several nights learning about drier parts of Sonoran Desert. Meet Park Service Biologists.
El Pinacate Biosphere Reserve:
    Discover lava fields, volcanic craters, & giant star dunes in northern Sonora, Mexico.
CEDO Field Station in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora
     … for 30 years has been studying, educating , & conserving in the Upper Gulf of California.
     Bunk at CEDO to investigate the coast, beach, and estuaries by foot, kayak, & boat.

Cost:      Presession Tuition, 4-6 credits, Honors Credit Available.
Additional Course Fee $1250 for course transportation, lodging, 85% of meals, field supplies, etc.
