Mitch-

Attached are the two job postings. Del Despain sent them to me this afternoon, so they’ve just posted. They will not be reviewing applications until the middle of February ’12, as Del intends to have these positions at the SRM national meeting during the jobfair. As you can see, there are 2 jobs available, one in Phoenix district and one in Colorado River district based in Yuma, so whoever gets hired there will be working with John Hall.

A bit of background on this- UA cooperative extension and BLM have had a cooperative monitoring agreement for some years. My district was not included on the agreement until recently. Phoenix district has obligated enough funding for a 2-year position. The intent is to initially catalog and database the existing monitoring and inventory data we have, then to assist in designing a set monitoring program, and to assist in the implementation of that program. On top of that workload, the Agua Fria national monument is a pilot study for the new AIM monitoring protocol, which is a modification of the NRCS NRI monitoring protocol, and that is part of the written workload as well. I’m not sure what the plan is for Yuma, but I’d expect it to be similar, aside from the AIM protocol work.
