BLM Natural Resource Management Internship

American Conservation Experience, a nationwide Non-Profit Conservation Corps
based in Flagstaff, AZ, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management
(BLM), Hassayampa Field Office (HFO), is seeking one intern to dedicate 52
weeks to the research, management, education and restoration of the area's
diverse and significant natural resources. This opportunity is intended for
enthusiastic young professionals with a deep interest in advancing their
career goals in public land management.  The deadline for applications is
August 15, 2011.

Start Date: October 3rd, 2011
End Date: September 30th, 2012

Position Description: The ACE intern will assist wildlife biologists and
other BLM resource specialists in accomplishing a variety of tasks such as
surveys, monitoring, maintenance, data entry, habitat protection,
restoration along with other duties associated with public land stewardship.
About 25% of the time will be spent working with high school students on the
River Pathways Project. This project brings riparian ecology and management
into the classrooms and students out on to BLM lands for some hands-on
experience in riparian monitoring, restoration and wildlife surveys. The
intern will help lead high school students in the field and serve as a
mentor and role model encouraging the youth to enter the field of natural
resources.
