Dear RISG co-chairs,
Sorry that I could not join your recent meeting with Igshaan. There is a point that I would like to raise with all of you.
One of the IYRP Working Groups (WGs) focuses on pastoralist youth. This WG includes people who define themselves as”pastoralist youth” (from a pastoralist background and under 35 years of age) as well as also older people who are doing research on pastoralist youth.
If there are members of your RISGs who are either pastoralist youth or are doing research on pastoralist youth, please encourage them to contact the co-coordinators of the WG - Jacob Lekaitogo Mpapaiyie (jacobmpapaiyie1994 at gmail.com <mailto:jacobmpapaiyie1994 at gmail.com>) and Elena Chen (elenachen.02 at outlook.com <mailto:elenachen.02 at outlook.com>). They will then include you in the WG mailing list and invite you to the next online meeting of their WG.
The WG of Pastoralist Youth has some interesting plans, including making short videos of young pastoralists playing soccer, to share via social media in order to reach a wide public during the World Cup 2026. Many young pastoralists may be keen to take part in this activity plus others, perhaps even a global gathering of pastoralist youth in 2025 or 2026.
Particularly young pastoralist women may be interested in the global gathering of pastoralist women being planned for late 2025. In that case, they should join the WG on Pastoralism & Gender (contact Nitya Ghotge: nityaowc19 at gmail.com <mailto:nityaowc19 at gmail.com>), which is working out modalities to select participants representing pastoralist women in different regions.
Cheers,
Ann

You are also requested to send me a narrative word document so that I can include it in the global update to be sent to the broader IYRP community. Thank You Vivek for doing so already on behalf of RSIG-SA.
