Dear LDN Working Group members and RISG Chairs

Please find attached the final draft of this graphic which is initially
intended for insertion into the final report of the IYRP LDN Working Group.
It will replace Figure  3 in that report. We also plan to blow it up for
posters and banners, and it can be used in any IYRP presentation.

The figures were chosen from a set provided by many of the RISG or from our
IYRP archives.  Due to the shape and size of the graphic, we were only able
to select a total of 24 pictures. We selected them on the basis of the
following criteria:

1. that they were representative of the typical rangeland biomes around the
world (using the ILRI et al. 2019 classification provided in the Rangeland
Atlas). Each biome has at least 3 photos from around the world.
2. Making sure that each RISG region has at least 2 pictures
3.  The photos show the rangeland type, perhaps some animals and people -
the main focus is on the rangeland type. Most are in the growing season,
but there are some that are in winter, and one (Canada) shows a mix of good
and degraded land
4.  The photos were of high quality and clear
5.  The entire collection was aesthetically pleasing, shows diversity of
both rangelands and livestock, and the captions are interesting.

*I would like your final inputs now, with the following specific request:*


*>  Is there a range type that is underrepresented or missing ?  If
anything is missing, then please don't just say so, instead, please provide
a high quality picture with reason for replacing any of the pictures, and
with caption and credits*

*> RISG chairs who provided the pictures (including Igshaan):  *
*>>>> please check each picture and caption you gave us, and provide any
additional information or correction.  *
*>>>>  please check the exact position of the arrows on the base map. If
these need to be adjusted, then please print the graphic and draw by hand
where the arrow should go, and rescan and send to us*

*>  MENA and Arctic chairs: We selected the pictures for your region from
the IYRP archives. Can you provide any additional information for the
captions and check and adjust the arrow? *

*>  RISG chairs are welcome to have the graphic translated for use in their
regions. Please contact Barbara Hutchinson directly for that purpose. *

*Please provide your feedback by Monday 13th November at the latest. *
