Dear Igshaan,

Here below a major event for the Western and Central Africa region.

Ninth session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development
(ARFSD)

The WCA RISG was represented by its chair Harouna Abarchi at the ninth
session of the <https://www.uneca.org/eca-events/arfsd2023> Africa Regional
Forum on Sustainable Development organized by the United Nations Economic
Commission for Africa in Niamey (Niger) from February 28 to March 3, 2023.
This represented an opportunity to speak out about the IYRP and raising
awareness on the importance of rangelands and pastoralism.

Best wishes,

Harouna & Serena

Dear RISG chairs

We are putting together a newsletter to update the delegates of the upcoming
International Grassland Congress in the USA in May 2023 on the past
activities and future plans of the IYRP.

We would like to include a section on the type of actions that regions have
taken or events that they organised, that made a real meaningful impact (In
whatever way you think it did) towards achieving the IYRP goals. A brief
description of the event or action taken might include the name of the
event, date, place, objectives of the event and what materialized during the
event and how it benefited the IYRP.

Could all regions provide a brief summary (5-8 lines) of just ONE such an
event/action that has occurred in your region and that you were part of?
Examples might be the IRC in Kenya 2022, Youth Festival in the Arctic in
2022, the ICCA consortium event in 2022, SRM 2023 IYRP special sessions
etc..

May I have responses from you by 31 March 2023?

Much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Igshaan
