Subject: Short survey to help design a new global Rangelands Data Platform

Dear potential global rangelands data platform user!

Significant data gaps have been identified in rangelands (UNEP 2019). In an attempt to fill some of these gaps 𝐈𝐋𝐑𝐈 (supported by 𝐆𝐌𝐕 and global and national partners including WB, IFAD, FAO, ICARDA, WWF, IUCN, ILC Rangelands Initiative and international and local NGO and pastoralist networks and groups) was awarded the CGIAR’s Inspire Challenge 2020 to establish a 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐞𝐛-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 consolidating and generating data and maps for use by a wide set of stakeholders including scientists, researchers, analysts, mappers, governments, development agencies, conservationists, investors, pastoralists and other land users. It is anticipated that this global Rangelands Data Platform will serve as the “go-to” information source on rangelands. To help us to develop the most useful data platform, we request you, as a potential user of this platform to answer a short 14-question survey on what you would like from such a platform and any suggestions that you may have. If you choose there are some additional technical questions that you can answer after this, but these are entirely optional. Please go here to access the survey: https://forms.gle/yrahJ5XGqR82QueP7<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/forms.gle/yrahJ5XGqR82QueP7__;!!MvyJQugb!QGnrRbzvZ6OhhY2zgvulAIQdEAyy_6w-2T1TV6LSTO1hC4N5NzHEyIZU6szcaA$>

Please share with your colleagues and other potential users as we want as many people who might use such a platform to fill it out the survey, so that we can design the platform in the best way and to your preferences. The survey is not limited to one person per organization.

The survey will close at the end of October, and we will share the results of the survey through pastoralist/rangeland-related networks and platforms by end of November, but if you do not receive and would like a copy, then please get in touch.

We very much appreciate your time and input to this.
