While I am mostly retired, this proposed program is near and dear to my heart. If you need a historical perspective or just some memories from an old guy, I would be happy to oblige.

Like most people my age, I am sequestered in place. I am working with UC to finally publish a 9 part series on the ecology and management of annual rangelands that is based on the many handouts we used over the years in the UC Annual Rangeland Management Short Course for agency staff and any interested individual. And some of you know that with Cody Sheehy I stuck my toe into the online education waters just before I retired in 2012.

Wear a mask, stay apart and drink plenty of wine.

Aloha Rangelands Partnership,

I hope everyone is safe, healthy, and spending time in the field or Library as the case may be.

Karen Launchbaugh, Barb Hutchinson, Amber Dalke, Aaron Lien, and myself are starting work on a proposal to the USDA focused on development of a workforce training curricula for early and mid-career range management professionals. We feel that the output of this project will help advance the profession of range management by providing support for the two Society for Range Management certification programs through test preparation curricula and continuing education opportunities and training opportunities for state and federal land management personnel, while also providing a mechanism to enhance the sustainability of the Rangelands Partnership. Attached to this email is a brief prospectus of the project we envision. We would like to invite anyone with time and an interest in the project to join us in collaboration. Please review the attachment and let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you on your decision.

Kind Regards,

Mark
