Greetings Partners,
No more "almost ready" messages, no more "delays"...beta versions of the new and much expanded Global Rangelands, Rangelands West, and state-hosted sites have launched - at last! We are hoping you will be pleased with the results. Our plan is to move from beta to full launch very quickly so we need your help. Please send us your feedback! Check out http://beta.globalrangelands.org and http://beta.globalrangelands.org/rangelandswest, and make sure your state site link is correct!
New capabilities include a completely mobile-friendly version, so try out accessing the site through your cell phones and IPads. Also, there are more than 20,000 items in the database now, including a major Southern African Collection and a much expanded Australia Collection, among others. Check out "Discover" for a full list of the collections now included in the database (more is still to come)! Tell us how it works for you!
A new and enlarged Topics section will be available soon and will be the focus of a collaborative session at our annual meeting. A sneak preview are the Highlighted Topics on Rangelands West - check out Wolf Recovery, Human and Economic Dimensions, Sage Grouse, and Rangeland Soils.
Also, a major effort this year has been to create videos to introduce topics and to make stronger connections with our users. Largely the outcome of several NIFA/RREA-funded projects involving Arizona and Wyoming, you will see video clip introductions to topics as well as longer theme-based videos. In the coming year, you will also see an extensive set of "local knowledge" videos as well - all to be made available through our newly redesigned "Multimedia" page.
We hope you will find the "NEW" Global Rangelands suite of websites easier to navigate and full of useful information. As ever, this is a collaborative effort among many people, including YOU! We value your feedback and will make every attempt to continue improving the sites based on your input. We need your help in this process.
Please make sure to update your state sites and include your local resources in the database. We are here to help you, so contact us if you would like one-on-one assistance. It will be especially exciting this year if each state report will also feature new resources that are available to all through our database. (We will be in touch soon with details about the Hawaii meeting agenda.)
Our annual meeting this year is lining up to be one of the best and of considerable importance to the Partnership. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL IN HAWAII!
Mahalo,
The Arizona Rangelands Partnership Team
