All,

If you are attending the RW meeting and have signed up for the Saturday tour, the bus leaves SpringHill Suites at 8a.

You will be traveling along the ocean (Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet); it can be very windy. I highly recommend clothing to break the wind. You have to potential to see Bald Eagles, Dall Sheep, and upon rare occasion Beluga whales on the drive. At the AWCC there are some of the wild game animals of Alaska, such as bears, bison, musk ox. Viewing of the Portage Glacier will be at the edge of the lake, it can be cool and windy there. If the clouds are high enough you can see the glacier pouring out of the Harding Icefield. It is a beautiful drive, weather dependent for the big views.

Here is a tentative schedule for the day:

8:00 am Pick up at Springhill Suites University Lake<http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/ANCUM-SpringHill-Suites-Anchorage-University-Lake>

9:00 am Photo opportunities along Turnagain Arm

11:30 am Photo opportunities in Portage Glacier Valley

12:00 pm Lunch (on your own) at Portage Glacier Lodge

1:00 pm Tunnel to Portage Glacier View Point

4:00 pm Depart for Anchorage

5:30 pm Dinner at Sourdough Mining Company<http://www.sourdoughmining.com/> (on your own)

7:30 pm Arrive at Springhill Suites University Lake

My very sincere apologies for sending this information so late, I hope you see it before you fly to Anchorage on Friday.

Safe travels.
Jodee
