<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">We are writing to invite you to participate in a research study that explores the experiences, knowledge, and socialization of prospective graduate students in the life sciences.
We are conducting the study at the University of Arizona with a focus on undergraduate or masters students who plan on applying to graduate programs (MS and/or PhD) in the life sciences this year. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">We would like to invite you to participate in our study if you are an undergraduate or masters student who will be applying to life sciences graduate programs this application cycle.
Participation entails three one-on-one interviews over Zoom focused on your experiences during the application process, your expectations about graduate school, and your decision-making processes. Interviews will be spaced out over a 6-month period. Each interview
should last no more than 90 minutes and would be conducted over Zoom using a password protected link. If you are able to participate, we will work with you to schedule the interview on a date and time that is most convenient for you. The project’s findings
will inform graduate education in the life sciences fields and contribute to the literature on the early socialization of prospective graduate students. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">Individuals who participate in all three interviews will receive a total of $50. After the first interview, participants will receive a $10 gift card. After the second interview,
students will receive a $15 gift card. After the third interview, participants will receive a $25 gift card. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">If you would choose to be interviewed, the information you share will be kept confidential and your name and other personally identifying information will not be associated with your
comments or perceptions. Participation in this study is completely voluntary and your decision to participate or not participate will have no effect on your current program of study, graduate school applications, or your relationship with your department and
institution. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
