<p style="margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify"><span style="color:black">The use of satellite and airborne observation to study the Earth is a fast-growing field. A comprehensive knowledge on our watery home without such data from space is impossible. This
course provides an excellent opportunity for students to become familiar with several Earth science satellite missions, including those from NASA. We will get familiar with remote sensing fundamentals, different types of remote sensing data, several satellite
platforms, and their sensors to study the Earth’s water cycle, retrieval basis, and hydrologic variables estimated from space. While focusing on remote sensing of precipitation and cloud, we will discuss a wide range of topics that include remote sensing of
storms, soil moisture, evapotranspiration, water storage, drought, and fire. We will also discuss how such remote sensing observations can be evaluated using ground observations, and how they are used individually or in combination to address some of the existing
