Over 60% of College of Science students become involved in undergraduate research during their college careers. Involvement in research increases your understanding of processes and techniques you learn about in your science classes; helps you to learn the “real-world” applications of the science that interests you; allows you to participate in the process of generating new scientific knowledge; and allows you to develop meaningful relationships with researchers that can be important to your career before and after graduation.

So, how do you get involved in research? This class will help you through the process of deciding where your interests lie, contacting potential research mentors, making the best impression in interviews, and beginning your research experience so that it is as meaningful as possible. You’ll practice your people skills, develop an undergraduate resumé, and write a short proposal for your research.
