This Externship program is intended to provide undergraduate students with a work experience addressing community-scale sustainability projects in several rural communities throughout Arizona. Qualified externs will be paid minimum wage ($7.65) for up to 10-12 weeks and 40 hours per week of work. These Externships will provide students with unique opportunities to develop and use their ‘in-demand’ knowledge and skills about local sustainability, as well as engaging with local stakeholders to meet the needs of a community. Externs will work directly with and be supervised by UA Cooperative Extension Agents in their respective project communities. Preferably, students will be matched with an Externship project in the county or community of their residence. The program is specifically <i>not</i> limited to science and engineering students, although <i>US citizenship is required</i>. Applications are especially encouraged from members of under-represented minority groups and from women. Students must have <b>at least sophomore standing at the University of Arizona in order to apply.
