The Diana Liverman Scholars Program is still accepting applications through Sunday June 30th. Please share this opportunity with your students who are interested in sustainability, the environment, communication, and community service.


Through hands-on learning, interdisciplinary teamwork, and collaboration with community partners, the Diana Liverman Scholars Program allows students to make a tangible impact in their community and local environment while developing resume-worthy skills in teamwork, leadership, problem solving, communication, and project management.

In an interdisciplinary team with their undergraduate peers, Diana Liverman Scholars will use the skills they develop during their weekly workshops the year to create a communication piece that advances the mission of an environmental community partner in Southern Arizona.
Program Components include:

  *   2 credits of GEOG 399 per semester
  *   $500 fellowship per semester
  *   Three to Four overnight field expeditions
  *   1 hour per week in person class
  *   ~1 hour independent work time/week
  *   Training in intentional listening, storytelling, communicating with varied audiences.
  *   Practice contributing to innovative community-based solutions in collaboration with cohort members
  *   Mentorship and guidance
     *   Faculty Mentors
     *   Carson Scholar Alums
     *   Liverman Alumni Preceptor
