  1.  Apply now for 2021-2022 CALS scholarships!
·         Who: All CALS students. Undergraduate or graduate, any major, any campus: CALS has scholarships that you may qualify for.
·         What: Over $1 million in scholarships for 2021-2022.
·         When: Apply by 11:59pm, April 1, 2021.
·         How: The entire process is done online via Scholarship Universe<https://arizona.scholarshipuniverse.com/student> (SU). Before you apply, be absolutely sure to follow the CALS How-To-Apply Guide<https://arizona.app.box.com/file/740859632379?s=cyenkvhv22sxuoj0xbu92abmsh4mqc7h>. SU has a matching question quirk that this how-to document helps you to navigate in order to maximize your eligibility.   1.  Course announcement: Computing for Research Labs: 2 units, SLHS 497/597 (Upper Division/Graduate Couse)



Learn about hardware, software, programming, networking and more! This friendly 2-credit class uses practical experience to supplement lectures:

-Learn what's inside your computer so you can make good buying choices.

-Learn to identify ports and cables, so you never buy the wrong cable again!

-Learn about networking, so you can identify and solve your connection problems.

-Learn database concepts and how to better handle spreadsheet data with Microsoft Excel,

Microsoft Access, OpenRefine, and Tableau.

-Learn to use Python, Matlab and Unix.

-Learn best practices for naming and organizing the contents of your research directories.

-Learn about creating and optimizing videos.

-And much more!



Please sign up for 2 credits of SLHS 497 / 597, Spring 2021, scheduled on Thursday afternoons

from 1pm to 3pm. The class is entirely online but can be taken asynchronously, if Thursday

afternoons is not convenient!
