Dear PLS Students,

Here are a few important topics I wanted to bring to your attention:

  1. Today, Wednesday, May 6th, is the last day to switch your courses to P/F grading option.
     * Your instructors, nor I, can do this for you. You have to submit the request yourself. Please use these instructions if this is something you want to do: https://registrar.arizona.edu/sites/registrar.arizona.edu/files/forms/Student%20How%20to%20Guide%20-%20Update%20to%20Special%20Spring%202020%20Pass-Fail%20Grading%20Basis.pdf
     * Further info on Pass/Fail is here: https://registrar.arizona.edu/spring-2020-information-and-updates
        * I have requested that if P/F is something you are interested in it is important to chat it out with me first. If you shoot me an email with the course you are considering P/F for I’m happy to respond to you. There are a few instances were P/F might not be a good option for you (particularly if you want to go to med school later in life, OR if you are trying to use P/F for ENGL 101/102)

  1. Today, Wednesday, May 6th, is the last day complete the CALS Student Satisfaction Survey
     * Your voice matters to us and we would love if you could please complete this short survey, thank you in advanced!

  1. Survey on COVID-19 Impacts on STEM Students

Are you an undergraduate or graduate student currently pursuing a STEM degree at the University of Arizona? Would you like to help us better understand how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting you and your academic and career goals?

University of Arizona researchers Dr. Jill Williams and Dr. Stephanie Murphy are conducting a study to understand STEM student experiences of COVID-19 and how this might affect their persistence and success in STEM. If you are a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a STEM degree, we would love to hear from you. If you decide to participate in this study, you will complete a short online Qualtrics survey that should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Participation in this study is completely voluntary. If you’d like to learn more or complete the survey, please follow the link below. Upon completing the survey, you will have the opportunity to enter into a drawing for one of two $100 credits to your bursar’s account.

ASEMS fosters a culture of inclusive excellence at the University of Arizona by empowering STEM students with the tools necessary to succeed while recognizing their unique backgrounds and assets.

The University of Arizona sits on the original homelands of Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. Aligning with the university’s core value of a diverse and inclusive community, it is an institutional responsibility to recognize and acknowledge the people, culture, and history that make up the Wildcat community. At the institutional level, it is important to be practice in broadening awareness throughout campus to ensure our students feel represented and valued.
