Please see opportunity below:

Good afternoon,

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is looking for a college student to fill our summer of 2020 Agriculture Internship. I am reaching out to you because University of Arizona is home to top-ranked agriculture programs, and produces graduates that are able to easily transition into the Ag Industry. This internship would be a great fit for any one of your students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The internship exposes students to many facets of agriculture. From collecting soil samples, to inspecting grazing lands, to meeting with major leaders in the agriculture industry, this internship will really get a student prepared for life after graduation. The intern will work alongside our Land Managers to learn about best land-use practices and management. Lands that the intern will be working on include dryland, irrigated, orchards/vineyards, grazing, mining/mineral, as well as special-use such as solar and wind farms.

The WA DNR Agriculture Program produces approximately $24 million in annual revenue for Washington State Trusts. This revenue, generated from the 1.1 million acres of state trust lands that WA DNR leases for agriculture and grazing, helps fund public school construction across Washington State. Our role as WA DNR is to work with lessees to ensure that the lands are productive and sustainably managed while public resources such as water, fish and wildlife are protected.

This is a paid internship, and we are also offering an additional paid living stipend of $500/month. It is located in Pasco, WA. The internship is expected to be about 10 weeks long, and we are very flexible on working with the student's summer schedule. If the internship goes well, it may even be extended depending on what the supervisor and intern decide. The application can be found here<https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/washington/jobs/2632365/agriculture-intern-southeast-region?keywords=agriculture&pagetype=jobOpportunitiesJobs>.

Please feel free to share this opportunity with faculty and students.

As a side note- depending on your university's policy regarding internship classroom credit, we may sign-off for college credit in addition to the other paid benefits.

Thank you,
