Green Infrastructure
Professors Grant McCormick, AICP, MLA and Tanya Quist, PhD
Fall 2019
Tuesday and Thursday
Green infrastructure uses vegetation, soils, and natural processes to manage water and create healthier urban environments by mimicking nature to manage storm water (EPA). In this course, you will learn concepts, issues and techniques used in implementing green infrastructure in the built environment. The course will empower students to enhance sustainability of urban communities by providing clear definitions, building a foundation of relevant basic plant and environmental science knowledge, and exploring legal, economic and political strategies through lectures, interactive discussions, instructor and guest presentations and tours led by experts in their fields. After completing this course, students will be prepared to contribute within green infrastructure teams and effectively assess outcomes.
