Dear CEA/Hydroponic Student,
This is DrG. I have a contact at Water Garden Organics (WGO) of Virginia who wants to support at least one student intern during the next few months to prepare an operations document about WGO Greenhouse Lettuce Production.
You will not be growing crops or working in the greenhouse, but you will be preparing documents that describe how to grow lettuce within a high technology greenhouse, that is based on the experiences and needs of the WGO folks.
For the logistics of the job, essentially you remain in Tucson, not having to miss any classes, and work with Henri, the Head Grower of WGO. Henri will initially come to Tucson for a short time period to start up your work, and then he will work with you remotely. The timing is for work during this fall semester and to begin ASAP, but realistically no later than October 15th, with delivery of completed documents to WGO by Janaury 30, 2019.
Student employees will receive minimum wage of $10.50 per hour, but the pay rate will be based on their experience in CEA, Hydroponic Lettuce production and technical writing, which could reach $20.00 per hour.
You would be contracted and employed by Water Garden Organic which would pay you directly.
Henri and others from WGO will come to the CEAC in Tucson for a week to initiate the project. Student work hours would be maximized around their classes to provide as much contact time as available, then there would be time when Henri is not here that they would work remotely and the student would provide 10 - 15 hours per week. I would act as advisor to the student, and help support them to complete the documents.
See job description shown below.
Please provide a Bio and a letter about why this would be a valuable opportunity for your education, but also why you believe you can contribute to the success of the project.
Email the documents to RJ Brot RJ at watergardenorganics.com<mailto:RJ at watergardenorganics.com> and copy the message to me Dr. Gene Giacomelli giacomel at ag.arizona.edu<mailto:giacomel at ag.arizona.edu> Selected candidates will then be contacted for a video interview.
Best of success,
