Good Afternoon,
I'm contacting you regarding the Horticulture Internship Program at Filoli, a nonprofit public garden and historic estate in the Bay Area. As horticulture educators, I'm hoping you might be willing to share some information about this internship with your students.

We are still accepting applications for our winter session beginning January 8 as well as our spring, summer and fall programs.  Winters in the Bay Area are mild and winter interns will have the opportunity to get substantial hands-on experience in woody pruning of fruit trees and ornamentals. Spring annuals will begin blooming here in early February.

For over 40 years, Filoli has been committed to providing hands-on horticulture education to students entering the field through our 10-week internship program and 6-month apprenticeships.  To try to make it possible for any qualified and motivated individual to participate, Filoli's internships and apprenticeships are all paid positions and no cost housing and transportation can often be arranged if needed.  With the practical skill set gained at Filoli, many Filoli interns go on to find employment at public gardens across the US and internationally, manage landscapes at private estates, or take on leadership roles at landscape maintenance companies or wholesale nurseries.  For others, the hands-on experience simply gives them a taste of the profession which then helps inform their work in related fields such as landscape architecture, floral design, historic preservation, or work in museums.

I've attached a brochure with more information about the program and an application for any interested students.  The dates for Filoli's 2018 programs are as follows:

Winter
   10-week: 1/8/2018 - 3/16/2018
    6-month: 1/8/2018 - 7/13/2018

Spring
   10-week: 3/26/2018 - 6/8/2018
    6-month: 3/26/2018 - 9/28/2018

Summer
   10-week: 6/18/2018 - 8/24/2018
    6-month: 6/18/2018 - 12/21/2018

Fall
   10-week: 9/10/2018 - 11/16/2018
    6-month: 9/10/2018 - 3/15/2019
