Please see the description below and attached flyer relating to a student volunteer opportunity with local farms in the coming weeks.
Joe Marlow of Southwinds Farm received a grant from the USDA to put up a hoop house. He is holding some work weekends for construction of the hoop house (November 11th - 12th and November 18th and 19th) and also welcomes volunteers for regular farm work on an ongoing basis. Southwinds Farm is organic and partly run on solar energy so it is a great learning opportunity for students interested in small scale agriculture. Joe Marlow, owner and farmer, is also a former PhD economist and is a wealth of information with regards to the economic factors involved in small scale farming.
