Every summer, over 50 1st-5th grade teachers gather at the Biosphere 2 to teach and learn about science and ways they can educate their students in a fun way. The program leader is holding several workshops and wants some help from some UA students!
If you're interested in sustainability and gardening, please contact me at tns at email.arizona.edu<mailto:tns at email.arizona.edu>.We will assemble a group of UA students to explain the science of composting and inspire teachers to lead hands-on activities around topics of soil science, bugs, compost, local food, pollution, etc. I'm looking for folks who have experience in the classroom, but we can also use other people that want to learn about incorporating sustainability into elementary curriculum. There are teachers from schools all over Arizona, so if you went to school here, you may very well be teaching your old teachers! I will be hosting an interest meeting next Thursday, April 9th at 6pm in the main library room A105. Please let me know if you're attending the meeting.
Thanks and happy gardening,
