Greetings CALS Students:

You may have recently heard that the University of Arizona announced it will
no longer be holding a University-wide Commencement Ceremony in December. We
would like to better explain what this means for you, if you are planning to
graduate December 2014.

The University has switched to a single University-wide Commencement
ceremony that will be held every May to celebrate graduates of that current
academic year. This means that December 2014 graduates would be included in
the following May's ceremony (December 2014, May 2015 and August 2015
graduates are attributed to one ceremony).

However, if you are a December 2014 graduate who would like to participate
in this upcoming May 2014 commencement ceremony, that is still possible. You
can attend the UA commencement by finding information here:
<http://commencement.arizona.edu/information/grads/may-2014>
http://commencement.arizona.edu/information/grads/may-2014

If you would also like your name printed in the May 2014 Commencement
Bulletin (in lieu of May 2015), there is still limited time to do so. You
must file a degree candidacy application (application only) by Friday, April
4th if you are hoping to have your name printed this May. The application is
available in Forbes Room 211. Please note that there is no end-date for
which to participate in the University ceremony; this deadline is just to
have your name printed in the commencement bulletin. (the commencement
bulletin is a booklet with all UA graduates' names printed.....it's like a
souvenir of the occasion.) If you have already informed Julie Adkins,
graduation services advisor, that you want to attend the May 2014
University Commencement, you may disregard this message.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) will continue to hold a
December Convocation Ceremony to celebrate December graduates. The CALS
Convocation will be designed with graduates, family and friends in mind, to
ensure achievements will be recognized. The College Convocation will
continue to be open to all graduates, family, friends and guests who would
like to attend.

I hope this has helped to explain the change in Graduation Ceremonies.

Best Regards,
