This March 24-25 the University of Arizona will host the inaugural Arizona
Higher Education Sustainability Conference (AHESC). AHESC will focus on
advancing sustainability in higher education and the community through the
sharing of best practices, presentation of cutting edge examples of creative
solutions to common challenges unique to Arizona, and the development of
regional collaborative networks.

The conference has a lot to offer students. There are workshops and
presentations exploring new techniques to improve sustainability literacy on
campus and in the community as well as formal networking with keynote
speakers and sustainability leaders in industry, government, and the
nonprofit sector in addition to conference attendees from other universities
and colleges in Arizona.

Here's a sample of some of the great presentations and speakers at AHESC
2014:

. Perspectives in Sustainable Food Systems

. Thinking Creatively about Sustainability in Higher
Education and the Community

. Operations: Energy Management and Renewables featuring
Carmine Tilghman of Tucson Electric Power

. Keynote: Anthony Cortese, Senior Fellow, Second Nature

. Keynote: Bruno Sarda, Director of Global
Sustainability Operations, Dell

. Keynote: Yalmaz Siddiqui, Director of Environmental
Strategy, Office Depot

. US District Judge Jennifer G. Zipps

. Ryan Kirane, Director of Supply Chain Management and
Sustainability Officer, Mayo Clinic Arizona

In addition to the robust program, AHESC is very affordable for students.
Conference registration covers breakfast, lunch, snacks, and admission to
the Student Summit. Additionally, registration includes a tour of the UA's
extremely successful student led Compost Cats San Xavier Coop Farm Worksite
or a tour of the world renowned University of Arizona Chiller Plant.

Check out www.ahesc.org to learn more about the conference. See you on March
24-25th!

Have a great day,

Julia
