[Plsugs] SCI 401/501 for 2141

Please spread the word about a new course just added to the schedule of classes for Spring 2014 that might be of interest to your undergraduate and graduate students.

 

Science Communication 

SCI 401/501 (3 units) T,R 12:30-1:45pm 

This course is designed to expose students in the natural sciences and other disciplines to the various forms and practices of science communication and to provide a solid foundation to communicate scientific research to audiences other than fellow scientists in the same field. Held in a seminar-style integrating lecture, presentations, in-class readings, discussions and hands-on activities, the course goes beyond science journalism, i.e. students will learn about opportunities in science communication in other capacities. This course will give students opportunities to practice telling science stories and publish them.

Normally we ask that course forms be submitted for new courses.  Once a course is added to the catalog it might take 24-48 hours for the course to appear on the drop down menu on the course forms.  We have made an exception and added SCI401/501-001 from the email below per Abbie Sorg’s recommendation.

 

Please review the course information in UAccess and let me know if you need further assistance.

Greetings,

I have tried using your online form to make a scheduling request for SCI 401/501 (co-convened) for Spring 2014 however I am running into problems. My dropdown menu for SCI courses does not list 401 or 501 as options to choose, however both were recently approved. Hopefully you can help resolve this via email.

 

I'd like to request SCI 401/501 section 001 be added to the schedule of classes for spring. Details are as follows: 

T,R 12:30-1:45pm

Enrollment cap set to 10 students

Instruction is in-person 

Taught by Daniel Stolte

We request a room that has computer and projector installed with internet access as well.

No honors section, no department consent, no waitlist necessary.

 

 

(In addition, our course SCI 492 which was approved for scheduling back in August also does not appear on the drop down menu so I am unable to schedule it as well. Please let me know when this is fixed.)
