The Desert Studies Award needs applicants! The award is for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students to support their work at an accredited Botanical Garden. Students gain experience and are paid $4000 during their internship during summer sessions, fall or spring semesters. This scholarship is administered by The Desert Botanical Garden and funded by The Garden Club of America, a national organization. Students studying horticulture, plant sciences, environmental science, landscape architecture, etc. are eligible for this unique opportunity in arid land studies. Preference will be given to applicants wishing to gain practical field experience, i.e., designing for sustainability, rainwater harvesting, plant management, etc. To apply, contact a Botanical Garden to define an internship project. The UA Campus Arboretum, Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, Tucson Botanical Garden, Tohono Chul, Boyce Thompon Arboretum, and Desert Botanical Garden are all suitable local choices to consider.

Applications are due Jan. 15, 2015.
