Dear Friends,
Good morning!
I hope this note finds you doing well. I wanted to invite you to the 3rd
Annual Latinos in Agriculture Leaders Conference which will be held in San
Antonio, Texas on October 11-13, 2013. This year we hope to have about 225
in attendance (100 students; 125 professionals). We hope you can make it.
This year, we have also created an opportunity for students interested in
agriculture to attend the upcoming conference by applying for a "student
scholarship" to help them cover the cost of the conference registration,
meals associated with the conference, and hotel accommodations (based on
double occupancy).
The Latinos in Agriculture Leaders Conference provides a unique venue for
sharing information and ideas for the best and most promising practices in
outreach to Hispanics for Agriculture. The objective of the conference is
to facilitate the opportunity for industry, government, education, and
future leaders (students) to meet and discuss the transformation of the
Latino Agricultural workforce of the future. The 3rd Annual Latinos in
Agriculture Leaders Conference will continue to engage stakeholders in
capitalizing on the opportunities not yet fully explored with the Latino
community in agriculture and related fields.
The goals of the conference goals are to:
. explore best practices in recruiting Latino/Hispanic talent in agriculture
and related fields
. seek opportunities to partner with other stakeholders to build synergy and
scalability in their programs
. learn information about the diverse Latino/Hispanic culture in the United
States and how to reach them
. learn how to tap into this emerging and growing market and the
opportunities it represents to the future of Agriculture
. promote and expand partnerships and strategic alliances for collaboration
between governments, institutions, and the public/private Agricultural
sector
. foster and identify Hispanic undergraduate and graduate future leaders
(students) who may be interested in your organization
. promote greater Hispanic participation in Agriculture and related fields
discuss emerging trends in higher education affecting Hispanics
The deadline for students to apply is Friday, September 13, 2013. Any
assistance you can provide in letting students know about this great
professional development opportunity will be greatly appreciated. Students
need to complete their scholarship application by going to the Latinos in
Agriculture website <http://latinosinagriculture.org/> under Student Info
tab and clicking on the Student Scholarship Application. It will take a few
seconds to download the online application, they need to save as a PDF after
completing it and e-mail it to Mr. David DeSousa, Jr. at ddesousa at tamu.edu.
Also, if you don't mind, please let your colleagues know about the upcoming
conference as well. It looks to be shaping up to be even better than the
previous years.
We hope to see you in San Antonio next month. It would be great catching up
with you once again.
Kind regards,
Edward
