Baker University Climbing Internship:

 We are recruiting students with ambulatory disabilities. Designed for 8
students, 4 with ambulatory disabilities and 4 without, this project is
based on the idea that wheelchair dependency is not a limit to good field
biology or canopy access. To explore the canopy we climb ropes not trees,
and in the lab we use microscopes, computers, and minds that have no

I believe that certification "legitimizes" your opinions. It signifies that
you've learned something! This is why I took the exam in the first place. I
felt that, if I was going to teach arboriculture, or share my opinions in
consulting, I had to back up my opinions with the certification. (It's the
same as knowing that my college degrees were instrumental in my being hired
as a community college instructor in the first place.)

Britton Fund Ride

The Britton Fund will hold its annual Britton Fund Ride in support of tree
research and education on May 7, 2013.  Kicking off at the Hyatt Regency
Indian Wells, a group of cyclists will ride a metric century (62 miles)
throughout the Coachella Valley, planting trees at two elementary schools
along the way.  Registration is open to riders of all levels through March
1, 2013.  Making new friends and making a difference while having FUN is our
motto.

Climbing Championship, plus a Day of Safety

Day of Safety: June 14, 2013

TCC: June 15 & 16, 2013

The best tree climbers in the west (Arizona, California, Hawaii,
and Nevada) will gather June 15th for the Western
Chapter International Society of Arboriculture Tree Climbing
Championships. There will be exhibitors, food and activities
to make a fun filled day.  The preliminary championship starts on Saturday,
where 30 contestants will compete in four timed events.

On Sunday there will be one final event, and then the top

men's climbers will compete in the Master's Challenge.
"Chapter Champions" will earn the honor of representing
the chapter at the International Tree Climbing Championship
