The Yadegari lab is looking for an undergraduate student to work in their
greenhouse and lab.  The student will help with growing of both maize (6th
Street greenhouse) and Arabidopsis, and general lab assistance.  This is a
year-round job, so the student must be able to work during the summer and
semester breaks.  Depending on the workload, and the student's experience
and abilities, he/she may help with some research work as well.  The
position will require about 8-10 hours per week to start but may expand
depending on the lab's need and the student's schedule. Please note this is
not a research job, but a research support job, and some of the tasks for

Greenhouse Tasks

1.        Plant maize weekly

2.       Monitor plant health, irrigation, lighting, pests

3.       Harvest mature ears and collect seed

4.       Discard old plants

5.       Clean up greenhouse

 

Arabidopsis tasks

1.        Mix soil and fill pots

2.       Plant seeds

3.       Fill fertilizer tanks

4.       Collect seed

5.       Discard and autoclave old plants

6.       Wash pots and trays

 

General Lab Tasks

1.        Lab cleaning

2.       Prepare pipet tips, microfuge tubes

3.       Fill carboys

4.       Autoclave waste

5.       Run errands, photocopy, move equipment
