This role includes:</p><ul><li>Introducing each speaker (Dr. Rachel Gallery, PostDoc Talk Awardee, Graduate Student Awardee, and the PostDoc Panel)</li><li>Keeping the presentations on schedule</li><li>Facilitating the Q&A sessions for each talk</li></ul><p>If you are interested in serving as the moderator for this portion of the program, please let me know by <strong>Thursday, December 5, 2024</strong>. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the role.</p><p><strong><font size="4">Important Item #2: Excellence in Graduate Education Breakout Session</font></strong></p><p>I will be leading the Excellence in Graduate Education breakout session on Thursday, December 13, 2024 (Day 2). Since this session aims to reflect the perspectives of all graduate students, I want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to contribute to it.</p><p>Currently, the proposed format is as follows:</p><ol><li><strong>Topic Proposals</strong>: Retreat attendees will rank topics (e.g., those listed in this <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ESvPrr5fc6EMWb-HiinZDioejUJZMxE5QZFGCgOhcK4/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">Google Doc</a>) that they feel are most important for fostering graduate excellence. This will be done with a live poll. </li><li><strong>Breakout Discussions</strong>: Groups comprising students, faculty, staff, and postdocs will discuss the top 3–5 topics based on the polling results.</li></ol><p>I would love to hear your thoughts on this format.
